Hat making or millinery has been around since the beginning of time. Since homo sapiens needed to keep their heads warm, flappers needed a way to show their disdain for authority, and modern day songstresses needed to be seen from stage (Badu, Gaga). All through time there have been people crafting these hats. From Rose Bertin (the French milliner to Marie Antoinette), to tradition Peruvian women in the Andes. Phillip Treacy, one of the most famous milliners today, is an award-winning Irish hat maker who designs amazing concoctions for the most important designers in the world including the Karl Lagerfeld, the late stylist Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen.
