Interrior design inspiration

Since moving to Venice I've been super inspired by my fiance Jeremy. He surfs a lot, every day if he could. So when thinking and dreaming about how to design my home, I took a bunch of inspiration from him. He has a lot of boards, mostly short, but a few long. We wanted to have them in the house. I put up two vertical surf racks and leaned the long boards against the wall. We have shells from beaches we have traveled together and I used fabric from different surf spots we have been. Here are some pics of my home (its a work in progress) and some cool photos I used for inspiration. :)

Victorian vintage/antique shop out side of Austin

While visiting Austin, TX for SXSW last week. I was searching for some great vintage stores, and came across this little gem. Super Victorian and full of macabre this shop did not let me down. I found a great Vintage Victorian mourning jacket and a hat. Those pics to come!

Artist Profile: Helena Kubicka de Braganca

Helena Kubicka de Braganca, a photographer from NYC, launched her new photography book last month. "I am Cuban" is an amazing documentation of artists and people from Cuba. She spent a few years traveling to and from Cuba and spent countless hours preparing the images. Take a look at some of her work.

"Eight years after seeing "I am Cuba" and armed with a Leica camera, Helena visited Cuba to photograph local hip hop artists who were profiled in the documentary "East of Havana".  Helena was captivated byCuba, the people she met there, and the relative undocumented life of ordinary Cuban citizens.  On her second trip she spent over two months traveling, meeting artists, musicians, prostitutes, farmers, and revolutionaries.  Eventually through the network of people she cultivated, she was able to penetrate deeper into the lives of her subjects than she could have ever imagined.  Helena believes that her photographs exude the trust and intimacy that she built with her subjects and that they express through poetic colors the mysterious lives and struggles of Cubans today.  Helena is currently compiling photographs for a book project in collaboration with Cuban writer Pedro Juan Gutierrez"
